The NRA Basic Pistol Course is the first step in the journey of applying for your Ohio Concealed Carry Permit. This course does not issue the permit, but simply allows you to apply. You are still required to pass a background check conducted by the Sheriff's Office. Not only is it required to apply for the permit, but it's also a great opportunity to go back to the basics of pistol shooting and remind yourself of the importance of proper handling and gun safety. The training is a minimum of 8 hours, including 6 hours of classroom instruction and at least 2 hours on the range.
This course is taught by NRA trained instructors and is offered a couple times per year as time permits and demand dictates. The fee for the training is $80.00 which includes training materials and lunch. To complete the training, you'll need to bring your own firearm, at least 150 rounds of approved ammunition, and ear and eye protection. A holster or some type of method of carry is highly recommended for the training.
Ammunition is not permitted inside of the training facility at any time during training.
No loaded firearms are permitted inside the training facility without explicit permission from an instructor.
Firearm safety is paramount in this course. If you are removed from the training for any unsafe acts or any other reason at an instructor's discretion, no refund will be given.
The link to register for the next available training will be listed below and future tentative dates will be listed on the Upcoming Events tab.
If you have any questions about setting up a training session or would like to set up training for a small group, such as family or a group of co-workers, please send us a message.
Please keep in mind that space is very limited. The instructors reserve the right to cancel the training if there are not enough students registered.
